If you are using Fedora 12 and the webcam is not working in Flash applications (the camera is not found). Then add this to $HOME/.bash_profile
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib64/libv4l/v4l1compat.so
export LD_PRELOAD
If you are on a 32bit machine change 'lib64' to 'lib'
Then logout and log back in and your webcam should start working.

Hello,
I tried what you posted. However, I wasn't able to get my web cam working. I am using a HP Pavilion 6v6000 notebook which is 3 years old.
Any ideas?

You're my hero! I had it working in almost all apps but flash and it drove me crazy for a few hours. I managed to find this write up and it worked!
